----------------------------------------------- OUR THEME: SCRUM BEYOND SOFTWARE -----------------------------------------------
The world of Scrum is constantly progressing and Scrum is now being applied way beyond software. Scrum is beginning to touch every aspect of the business. The term "Business Agility" is now a phrase that is in common use. New frameworks and new forms of Scrum are addressing this reality now, throughout the world.
At this year's Give Thanks for Scrum event, we explore Scrum Beyond Software.
Way back in 2009, the Scrum Alliance arranged a Scrum Gathering in Phoenix with this very theme. But 2009 was not quite ready for Scrum Beyond Software. Times have changed. It is now more than eight years later, and the time has come. Scrum Beyond Software is emerging as a reality worldwide as this year's theme explores this new and dynamic reality.
----------------------------------------------- CONFIRMED SPEAKERS -----------------------------------------------
JEFF SUTHERLAND
Plenary speaker JEFF SUTHERLAND needs no introduction! Jeff is one of the inventors of the Scrum software development process. Together with Ken Schwaber, he created Scrum as a formal process at OOPSLA 95. Jeff helped to write the Agile Manifesto in 2001 and is a co-author (along with Ken Schwaber) of The Scrum Guide.
DAVID WEST
Plenary speaker DAVID WEST is the Chief Product Owner at Scrum.org. He is a frequent keynote speaker and is a widely published author of articles, along with his acclaimed book: Head First Object-Oriented Analysis and Design. He led the development of the Rational Unified Process (RUP) and then worked with Ivar Jacobson running the North American business for IJI. Then managed the software delivery practice at Forrester research where he was VP and research director. Prior to joining Scrum.org he was Chief Product Officer at Tasktop where he was responsible for product management, engineering and architecture.
JOE JUSTICE
Plenary speaker JOE JUSTICE founded and has grown WIKISPEED, a company building 100+ mpg, modular commuter cars using Agile process, to a multi-national business in 18+ countries, and now applies Agile methodologies to reduce time-to-value in social good projects such as polio vaccine distribution and low-cost medical centers for developing communities. Joe Justice consults on behalf of Scrum Inc. to realize the benefits of agile services in non-software-centered verticals such as scientific R&D, oil, entertainment, manufacturing, food service, hospitality, health care, transportation, government, merger management, and education.
Joe Justice is a nominated TEDx speaker and has spoken and consulted internationally since 2005. Joe has certified Agile project managers for non-software projects and spoken at multiple companies whom generated greater than $1 billion IPOs, ivy league universities, state universities, and international not-for-profits.
STACIA HEIMGARTNER on Mike Beedle's ENTERPRISE SCRUM
Stacia is one of the very first Certified Scrum Trainers in the USA, taught by Ken Schwaber himself. Stacia will introduce to ENTERPRISE SCRUM from Agile Manifesto co-author Mike Beedle. ENTERPRISE SCRUM is the new and important Scrum derivative that is designed to facilitate business-agility across all functional departments such as Marketing, Sales, Human Resources and Finance.
DANIEL MEZICK on LEADERSHIP SCRUM:
Coaching executives and teams since 2006, DANIEL MEZICK is an expert on extending adaptive Agile culture beyond software. His books and workshops teach you how.
A frequent speaker at industry conferences, Daniels list of clients include Capital One, INTUIT, CIGNA, SIEMENS Healthcare, Pitney Bowes, Harvard University, and dozens of smaller enterprises.
His first pioneering work on culture was published in 2012. THE CULTURE GAME described 16 specific patterns that extend Agile ideas across the organization, beyond software. THE CULTURE GAME describes a very clear, step-by-step program for doing exactly that.
Daniel will introduce LEADERSHIP SCRUM, an open-source Scrum derivative based on the open-source Scrum Guide from Jeff and Ken. LEADERSHIP SCRUM contains everything C-level teams need to execute and demonstrate leadership work with Scrum. Leadership teams represent not the "final frontier" but rather the very *first* frontier that must be settled with Scrum, if your Agile transformation-- the one you want-- is actually going to happen. You exit this conference with the LEADERSHIP SCRUM Reference Definition and guidance on how to use it to make your Agile Transformation a reality.
