Join Culture for the Non-Cultured (http://culturecircle.meetup.com/3/), a 2,300 member social group as we go on a guided tour of the exhibit, French Founding Father: Lafayette's Return to Washington's America at the New York Historical Society! (After the tour, we will have about 30-45 minutes to explore at least some of the rest of the museum before we all meet up again for eatin', drinkin', & merry-makin')

A Short, Simplistic Timeline About the Featured Exhibit

1777: The Marquis de Lafayette leaves his native France for America to help George Washington win our country's independence. Washington and Lafayette bond over their beliefs in human liberty and democratic society, and both become inspirational leaders to the fledgling country.

1824: Lafayette returns to the United States, and is given a hero's/celebrity's welcome as he tours the States for 13 months. Guess where Lafayette begins his tour? Good ol' New York!

2008: Culture for the Non-Cultured hears the story of the 1824 tour, sees its memorobilia, & learns Lafayette's legacy at the New York Historical Society.
