ISAN On the Road: KENDAL
This year, rather than asking you to come to ISAN, ISAN will be coming to you... during the summer of 2016, ISAN - the Independent Street Arts Network - will be visiting various festivals and events across the country, with a series of networking events for the Outdoor Arts sector.
Each event will include a discussion about issues affecting the sector, the opportunity to share information, events and ideas, the chance to discover more about the host festival and networking time with fellow producers and programmers and artists. We'll be inviting funding representatives to help with your financial questions and hopefully we can help advise or point you in the right direction on most matters.
There will be refreshments and a friendly atmosphere. Anyone with an interest in the Outdoor Arts sector is welcome to attend, but, if necessary, we'll give priority to ISAN members, hope that seems fair.
ISAN visits Kendal for lakeside networking; in association with Lakes Alive. This one offers the chance to stay on for a fantastic al fresco feast. Hot topic: dynamic digital work with Bird Hive collaborators Phil Charnock from Draw and Code, and Alec Carton from Iron Bird.
Agenda: 1. Welcome, introductions and refreshments 2. Let's Talk About... our hosts: Lakes Alive 3. Let's Talk About... a burning topic: How can we further develop digital work that is specifically made for outdoor settings? 4. Let's Talk About... Outdoor Arts: Raise questions, offer advice 5. Let's Talk About... news and views: The chance to share news, ideas and events and discuss funding opportunities 6. Informal chat, mingle and catch-up time 7. Sign up for five-minute funding surgeries
PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT WILL REQUIRE CAMPING or ACCOMMODATION!
After the ISAN event (5-6.30pm in St Thomas Church, Kendal) we will meander to the Giant Jacobs Join for a unique dining experience, a long table banquet situated alongside the idyllic river Kent. A jamboree, a pop up feast and a night to create some special memories; we will celebrate the communities based in Kendal, and in the generous spirit of a giant Jacob's join where everyone brings something to the table, this one is a little bit special - you are invited to bring something magical as well as your food! A candlestick, a musical instrument, a poem to recite, a magic trick or joke.
Lakes Alive are working in partnership with CNN Events Good Taste festival who will provide local concessions alongside a bar selling our festival beer, brewed by Bowness Bay Brewery.
Local Choir, puppets and magicians will all take a turn at entertaining the guests. Following the banquet there will be a performance by Cirque Bijou which has been co commissioned by Brewery Arts Centre.
ISAN is supported by Arts Council England.
