Summer Food Styling & Photography
Raleigh's Hillside Farm
Brodhead, WI
Share this event:

Join Raleigh's Hillside Farm farmer and The Leek & The Carrot blogger Lauren Rudersdorf for a basic introduction to storytelling, photography and food styling. Begin your afternoon with a tour of the farm and then join Lauren in the kitchen to gain a better understanding of lighting, thoughtful stylistic arrangement and other tricks of the trade to help your food look beautiful in photos.  This workshop is for participants 12 or older (with paid ticket).

Note: Participants should bring their own cameras. This is a very introductory level course and basic cameras will work just fine! Lauren shoots predominantly with an iPhone for her farm and blog.

A free copy of Renewing the Countryside: WISCONSIN will be given away to every family, couple and/or household registered for a particular workshop (a $26.95 value); the free book giveaway is limited to one copy per residential address of attendees.

About Lauren Rudersdorf:

Lauren Rudersdorf owns and operates Raleigh's Hillside Farm with her husband on leased family land. She loves to manage their small CSA, host events on the farm and write elaborate newsletters filled with cooking tips that help guide members through the changing seasons. When she's not on the farm, you can find her in Madison where she works part-time at Midwest Environmental Advocates or up in her second floor kitchen testing recipes and snapping pictures for her food blog The Leek & The Carrot.

About Raleigh's Hillside Farm:

Raleigh's Hillside Farm is a 3-acre, transitioning-to-organic CSA vegetable farm in southern Wisconsin. Lauren owns and operates Raleigh's Hillside Farm with her husband on land that has been in her family for 4 generations. These young farmers are in the fourth year of their operation and enthusiastic about about bringing people together around local food and building community.

CANCELLATION POLICY: NO REFUNDS.  SOIL SISTERS has a no refund policy. You can, however, transfer your ticket to another person, provided that person is in possession of the ticket at the time of the workshop.

On behalf of the South Central Chapter of the Wisconsin Farmers Union, thanks for participating in SOIL SISTERS. Since this is an annual event, we invite you to share your experiences on our Facebook page or other social media you use. Of course, we're always looking for ways to make your experience better, so let us know what we did right and what we could improve upon. Hope to see you back again next year where they'll always be something new to taste, animal to meet or soil sister to greet.
