INLC Grounded In Nature l Ice Age Flood Tour l McKenzie Conservation Area, Pettibone addition with Jack Nisbet
Join INLC on an exploration of the Ice Age Floods, the first of a series of three tours to view the remains of the 100 mega floods in the beautiful PNW. These floods have etched into our landscape the physical topography of our region.

Ice Age expert, Jack Nisbet will lead this informational tour where they will focus on the structural landscape of the Pettibone addition to the McKenzie Conservation Area at Newman Lake and the spectacular rock outcroppings. We will also gain insight into the theories surrounding the great Missoula floods and the impact on our environment.

Newman Lake is located 21 miles east of downtown Spokane. The area has a rich anthropological history, previously being inhabited by Natives Americans and then becoming a trading hub for the surrounding area. Many pines and fir trees find their home around the lake. Aside from hiking, the area is excellent for a plethora of activities, including hiking, camping, biking, and other outdoors activities. Many water sports and activities are also able to be experienced on this lake. Come learn how the Missoula floods influenced this area.
