Dinner and a Show: "I Can't Remember Anything"
"I Can't Remember Anything," written by Arthur Miller in 1987, is a short play about two old friends: the feisty Leonora, and her late husband Frederick's best friend, Leo. Living out their years in a small Connecticut town, the pair gather each night at Leo's small, sparse house for a simple dinner and some companionship. They discuss the glorious past -- prewar dinners in France, Frederick and Leo's engineering projects around the world, nights of wine and dancing with friends around the world -- and the mundane present of dentists and morticians. Tonight, however, something is not quite right with Leo; he has some uncomfortable truths to share with his nightly dinner guest. "I Can't Remember Anything" is presented in a cafe format, with the performance following a two-course dinner.
