CASI Quebec Course 2016: Introduction to Advanced Topics in Aircraft Conceptual Design
************* Dates:
19-MAR-2016; 0900-1600
************* Description:
The CASI Quebec Introduction to Advanced Topics in Aircraft Conceptual Design Part 1 is the first of a new series of short courses aimed to have a more quantitative approach to aircraft design in the conceptual phase. Although not a prerequisite, this course is a follow-up of the "Introduction to Aircraft Design" given in October 2015. The first part will look at three different topics:
Aerodynamic Design of a Wing (1 hour) This section will cover both the high speed and low speed aerodynamic design of a wing. Subjects such as induced and compressibility drag, planform design, buffet, flap selection and stall margins will be looked into details.
Engine Performances and Integration (1 hour) This section will cover both the high speed and low speed aerodynamic design
For the two sections above, a one-hour guided exercise will be proposed combining both subjects.
Aircraft Systems (2 hours) This section of the course will cover aircraft systems architectures. You will learn about the interactions between aircraft systems, as well as how these interactions impact aircraft conceptual design. At the end of the session, there will be a one-hour interactive activity, in which attendees will perform trade studies to select an optimal aircraft power systems architecture.
