About the show:
STAGE DOOR focuses on Terry Randall, a struggling actress in 1930's New York, trying to make it on Broadway while living in a boarding house for aspiring actresses. Terry and the rest of the girls in the house are faced with the challenges of making ends meet, balancing work with social and romantic life, and choosing between staying in New York or "going Hollywood." The boarding house, known as the "Footlights Club," and the story of the girls are inspired by a real Manhattan boarding house for actresses known as the Rehearsal Club, which provided safe and affordable housing for Broadway Babies (including Carol Burnett and Blythe Danner, among others!) from the early 1900's until the 1970's. The play was later adapted into a 1937 Best Picture-nominated movie starring Katherine Hepburn, Ginger Rogers, and Lucille Ball.
