MIND/GAME: The Unquiet Journey of Chamique Holdsclaw: A Documentary Film Screening
Directed by Academy-Nominated Director Rick Goldsmith
USA / 2015 / 57mins / DC Premiere

She was the greatest women's basketball player the world had ever seen: seven consecutive championships from high school through college, moves and flair comparable to the best men's players, the "female Michael Jordan." But inside, something was not right.

Six years into her career as a pro with the Washington Mystics, Chamique Holdsclaw left the team under a cloud. She was, it turned out later, suffering from clinical depression and the shame of her illness, hidden by a mask that she had worn for years.

Holdsclaw's personal struggles identify, cope, and recover from her mental health challenges provide a gripping and revealing tale. Ultimately, it is an intensely intimate portrait of one exceptional woman battling the kind of demons experienced by millions.
