Both traditions have change as their goal, one through object, and the other through image, both work with matter as symbol, both have roots in Greco-Roman cosmology and theurgy. Through Proclus' On The Priestly Art According To The Greeks, a key text on the unity of the world, and images of Gnostic gems and alchemical results, this evening's talk will explore the workings of alchemy and talisman and the creative process in general.
Brian Cotnoir is an alchemist, artist and award-winning filmmaker. Author of The Weiser Concise Guide to Alchemy, the Emerald Tablet, and Alchemical Meditations, he is currently writing his next book, Alchemy: The Poetry of Matter. He has presented seminars and workshops around the world on various aspects of the art.
