Vendredi 19 mars à 20h, retrouvez le Québéco-marocain Hassan El Hadi et son groupe à l'Alliance Française de Toronto pour un concert mixant savamment les pièces traditionnelles marocaines et québécoises, l'arabe et le berbère, le rock, le jazz et le raï.
Hassan El Hadi est un auteur-compositeur-interprète accompli ainsi qu'un impressionnant joueur d'oud (luth oriental). Originaire du Maroc, il a grandi à Marrakech, où se conjuguent les sonorités des musiques arabo-berbères. Il a été inspiré par le festival annuel des Arts Populaires, les rythmes quotidiens de la place Jemaa el Fna et les nombreuses cérémonies et festivités locales.
Depuis son arrivée au Québec en 1995, le fondateur et le porte-parole du groupe, Hassan El Hadi a fait un cheminement musical absolument remarquable. Il compose une musique à la fois originale et enracinée dans la tradition, qui possède un soupçon très astucieux de jazz. Il réunit toutes les influences des musiques marocaines, en conjuguant les rythmes énergiques et enjoués des Berbères à l'expressivité de la musique arabe et au raffinement de la musique andalouse.

Friday, March 19 at 8 pm, discover the Quebecois-Moroccan Hassan El Hadi and his group at the Spadina Theatre for a concert which cleverly mixes traditional Moroccan, Andalusian and Quebec parts, Arabic and Berber, rock, jazz and rai.
Hassan El Hadi is a singer-songwriter author and accomplished oud player (oriental lute). Originally from Morocco, he grew up in Marrakech with the sounds of Arab-Berber music. He was inspired by the annual Festival of Popular Arts, the daily rhythms of the Jemaa el Fna square and the many local ceremonies and festivities.
Since his arrival in Quebec in 1995, the founder and spokesman Hassan El Hadi group made an absolutely remarkable musical journey. He composes music that is both original and rooted in tradition, and has a hint of jazz. Bringing together all the influences of Moroccan music, he combines the energetic and upbeat rhythms of the Berbers to the expressiveness of Arabic music and refinement of Andalusian music.
