THE ELEMENTS OF CLASSICAL ARCHITECTURE:THE TUSCAN ORDER
The elements of Classical Architecture includes the formalized canon of proportioning systems and geometries for the Classical Orders that has guided the practice of classical architecture since antiquity. Collectively, the Classical Orders present a spectrum of complexity in detail and proportional relationships, and a tectonic ordering system that is employed in the design of all classical structures.
This course examines in detail the Tuscan Order type as systemized by Renaissance architects. Participants will learn to how to lay out through freehand drawing, a version of the Tuscan column and entablature according to a methodology based on that of Vignola.
