TransportedSF Winter Solstice Celebration
Winter solstice: A time to reflect, renew, go inward. The longest night of the year. What better way to celebrate than to take a biodiesel/solar bus to three beautiful spots in the Bay for a poetry reading, a renegade tea lounge, and a winter ritual?

POETRY: Please bring poetry you love, either written by you or your favorite poets. We'll share our favorite poems with each other!

TEA LOUNGE: After poetry has stimulated your soul, you will be welcomed into an enchanting tea lounge. Here, you arrive at an illuminated moment in connection. Take a seat around a green bamboo gong fu table, sipping memories of the ancients with an earthy puerh. Or laugh with friends as you tantalize your cells and excite the exploration of a rare schisandra berry elixir that will guide you into realms you've never danced in before. Or take a moment to honor your connection with the stars with a unique adaptogenic chai that is sure to warm your heart. After you've received the luminous treasures that tea has to offer, move on to a ritual in celebration of this special Winter Solstice. Tea courtesy of www.pouringpresence.com

RITUAL: We will be led in a solstice ritual by Diana "Artemis" Halfmann. Celebrated for over 11,000 years, Yule or Winter Solstice is a time that indigenous people have honored the coming of the sun during this turning point at mid-winter. On this longest night of 2011, you will help cast the mystical circle and participate in a traditional Celtic wiccan ritual by cleansing yourself of obstacles to your growth, calling in the directions and elementals to support us in our magickal work, and firing up your intentions for the new year. We'll complete our circle with a traditional bread and wine blessing, and thank all the deities, ancestors, and nature spirits for being a part of bringing back our life-giving Sun God. Artemis is a shamanic counselor, yogi, and has been practicing indigenous Celtic magick and other earth-honoring traditions on the land in the Bay Area for 14 years. She is deeply committed to the ongoing practice of shamanic visioning for healing and divination for herself and her community. Artemis is currently in the three-year Course in Advanced Initiations in Shamanism through the Foundation of Shamanic Studies. Artemis works for the Earth Medicine Alliance, a spiritual non-profit whose mission is to help humans remember our unity with the living Earth, including our connection to ancestors and nature spirits. Please go to www.ElementalWisdomSF.com to learn more about her private practice in San Francisco.

Music between stops curated by DJ Alxndr.

Please arrive for check in at 7:30pm. Our bus leaves promptly at 8pm. This even is 21+ and BYO.

Finally, DRESS WARM! Plan to be outside on a cool evening for about 30 minutes at a time.
