SMPS SFBAC Business Leaders Forum - East & South Bays

Background
SMPS is launching a new series for chapter members who are in senior business development and marketing roles. Our Business Leaders Forum will group 10-20 individuals for quarterly round-table discussions centered around business strategies, resource management, and professional development. The series will provide a venue for open communication and sharing of lessons-learned and best practices among colleagues in the A/E/C professions.

In this forum, business leaders will discuss and share success (and not so successful) stories about how they support their firms' leadership and guide management teams through difficult and challenging business decisions. Senior members will learn from peers who have charted their paths to leadership positions within their firms, have built and fostered business development cultures that work vertically throughout their organizations, and who manage staff and structure their internal departments to align with greater business goals.

For the 2011-2012 SMPS calendar, the series will feature one morning session per quarter.

Format
The series will consist of 90-minute sessions in an open forum format. Participants will be asked to bring/share examples and pose questions regarding topics that influence the strategic direction of their firms:
- Business development strategies and client relationship management
- Implementing a staff mentoring and training program
- Implementing a marketing budget in relation to a firm's financial performance
- Strategic market segment research and ROI evaluation
- Communications and public relations strategies that generate and build business
- Areas of professional practice (contract negotiations, fee development, insurance requirements, etc.)

Earn CEUs
The Business Leaders Forum will provide 6 units of Certified Professional Services Marketer CEUs.

Requirements
This program is formatted for senior professionals who have an active role in or supporting their firm's management and leadership team. Candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Possess 10 or more years experience in the A/E/C industry or similar industry AND
- Hold a BD or Marketing Director or Manager position for their firm
- Manage BD and/or marketing budgets, systems, firm procedures/processes, and operations
- Manage and direct staff and internal resources
