ISB/Science in Society: Preparing Students for STEM Careers
As the 60,000-member National Science Teachers Association holds its conference in Seattle, the Institute for Systems Biology gathers a panel of thought leaders from the business, academia, and K-12 education communities to discuss their vision for the future in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), as well as how to prepare students for these needs and opportunities and how science educators can help them succeed. The panel, moderated by Pat Wasley, former Dean of the UW College of Education, includes Lee Hood, ISB president; Francis Eberle, executive director of the NSTA; Matt O'Donnell, Dean of UW's College of Engineering; and Seattle Pacific University Professor Stamatis Vokos. Presented as part of Science in Society, a collaboration of the Institute for Systems Biology and Town Hall. Series supported by Microsoft; media sponsorship provided by KPLU.
