Storybox at the ARTS at Marks Garage

ON THE SPOT IMPROV AND THE CHICAGO IMPROV FESTIVAL PRODUCTIONS PRESENT STORYBOX OCTOBER 6, 8, AND 9 AT THE ARTS AT MARKS GARAGE

On The Spot Improv is collaborating with the Chicago Improv Festival Productions to present Storybox. Storybox will run October 6, 8, and 9 at the ARTS at Marks Garage (1159 Nuuanu Ave.) Shows on Thursday and Saturday start at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 and $10 for students.

Storybox is an improvised play that draws upon the theatrical techniques of Story Theatre, Noh Theatre, and long-form narrative improvisation, and will feature an international cast from Oslo Norway, Chicago, and Honolulu. With every show, the cast creates a unique journey of characters, style and tone. Sometimes dramatic, sometimes comedic, most times a vibrant mixture of both, Storybox brings the audience a compelling and powerful production of unscripted theatre.

Storybox was created by international improv artists and improv trainer Jonathan Pitts. Pitts is The Co-Founder and Executive Director of Chicago Improv Festival Productions and is a instructor of the acclaimed Second City Training Center in Chicago. He has also created and produces CIF's College Improv Tournament, CIF's Teen Comedy Fest, CIF's All-State Improv Team at the Illinois High School Theatre Fest, and he directs CIF's Summer Theater Camp. As an international improv artist, he's performed and taught in Canada, England, and Norway. He's a contributing writer to SC's book "An Improv Almanac", and he has been interviewed for several other improv books and films.

STORYBOX plays Thursday and Saturday October 6 and 8 at 8:00pm and Sunday October 9 at 5:00pm at The ARTS at Marks Garage. Tickets are $15 general and $10 for students w/ ID and are available at the door one hour before show time. The ARTS at Marks Garage is located at 1159 Nu'uanu Ave on the corner of Nu'uanu and Pauahi in downtown Honolulu, one block south of Beretania.
