Global Rhythms: Kaumakaiwa Kanaka'ole
Global Rhythms takes a tour of the tropics with the voice of Hawaii's new generation: five-time Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award-winner Kaumakaiwa Kanaka'ole, a longtime 'olapa (dancer) of Hālau O Kekuhi who knows and lives all aspects of hula. With three award-winning albums already in his repertoire (Ha'i Kupuna, Welo, and 2008's Kaumakaiwa), Kaumakaiwa is blazing a new trail while paying homage to those who have come before him, accompanied by a passionate love of his culture and the power that lies in his lineage.
