FREE Environmental Education Under Sail aboard Clearwater
This is a round trip tour from Governors Island.
Very child friendly; hands on activities.
Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, Inc. is a grassroots organization whose mission is to protect the Hudson River and to inspire, educate, and activate the next generation of environmental leaders. Each sail on Clearwater is an ecological adventure as well as a voyage of discovery. While aboard you will learn more about the dynamic ecosystem that is the Hudson River Estuary, help to raise the mainsail, join in songs about sailing, and learn about current environmental issues facing New York City's waterways. Of course, all sails include time to relax and enjoy the scenery!
Highlights of the sail include: Raising the mainsail, taking the tiller, music, and visiting the crew's living quarters below deck.
Plan to arrive at Governors Island at least 45 minutes before your tour to allow time to participate in the City of Water Day festival and make your way to Yankee Pier. Please arrive to Yankee Pier approximately 30 minutes before departure time. Tickets unclaimed 15 minutes before departure will be made available to standby passengers.
