Olive Oil 101: Tasting and Buying
Olive oils are diverse in flavor, price, and use and it can be a challenge to pick the right one(s). Join us for an evening of olive oil basics where we'll learn the difference between a good bottle and just a pretty label. We'll taste several unique varietals from California, Italy and Spain, and equip you with the tools to distinguish some of the key characteristics of a good olive oil. The result: you'll walk away with a deeper understanding of how to buy and use a variety of olive oils. The workshop will be lead by two recent graduates of the L'Università degli Studi di Scienze Gastronomiche in Parma, Italy. Matthew Runeare, the Marketing Director at the Eat Real Festival and Nicole Sturzenberger, the Assistant Director of the UC Davis Olive Center.
