F*ckin' Up Shakespeare - Twelfth Night
Twelfth Night is a comedy about mistaken identity and gender confusion. We are presenting a condensed adaptation as part of the F*ckin' Up Shakespeare Series - where one intoxicated actor and 7 classically trained professionals stumble through a Shakespearean play with hilarity and audience involvement.
The play is about twins, Viola and Sebastian, who are separated when their ship capsizes. Each believes the other has drowned. Viola washes ashore on the coast of Illyria, disguises herself as a man, and assumes the name Cesario so that she can take a position as an aide to the Duke, Orsino. Many mishaps follow.
Twelfth Night will be performed at five different LES bars over the course of eight evenings between April 12th - May 11th, 2015 (Sundays and Mondays).
**All proceeds from Twelfth Night ticket sales will go to funding LES Shakes' summer production, Romeo & Juliet, in the East River Park. Live music and movement will be fused with the action of the play, and all performances will be FREE to the public.
