Doug Merlino: 1 Team, 10 Lives in Black & White
In 1986, an "experimental" Seattle basketball team blended white players from an elite private school and black inner-city kids in hopes of increasing both opportunities and empathy. The season unfolded like an uplifting sports movie, and the experiment was deemed a success. But was it? Two decades later, journalist Doug Merlino (The Hustle), who played on the team, searched for his teammates—from a prison cell to a hedge-fund office—discovering how crossing lines of class, race, and wealth affected the lives of those 10 boys.
