Science: Robert Kurzban: You're a Hypocrite, Too
"Hypocrite" is an easier label to assign than to accept, but evolutionary psychologist Robert Kurzban says none of us is immune: Hypocrisy is the natural state of the human mind. In Why Everyone (Else) is a Hypocrite, Kurzban explores human inconsistency (including hypocrisy) from an evolutionary perspective, emphasizing how modularity-"functional specialization in our brain chemistry-"helps explain various features of human behavior including self-deception, self-control and self-esteem. Presented as part of Seattle Science Lectures, with Pacific Science Center and University Book Store. Series sponsored by Microsoft. Series media sponsorship provided by KPLU.
