FREE Story of America's Flagship SS United States Tour- Round trip from Governors Island
While aboard tug Edith Thornton, you will hear the story of another boat, America's flagship SS United States, and efforts to preserve it. Operating in transatlantic passenger service until 1969, it is now docked on the Delaware River in Philadelphia. It is the largest ocean liner constructed entirely in the United States, and the fastest ocean liner ever built.
The SS United States Conservancy seeks to preserve and revitalize the SS United States and works to ensure that the nation's flagship will endure for future generations as the ultimate expression of the United States Merchant Marine and American transatlantic passenger shipping.
