Theater Classes in French
In this class we will be using acting as a tool to learn French. The class will begin with the study of short monologues from well-known French plays from writers such as Moliere, Racine, Ionesco, Beckett and Sartre. We will then work on scenes taken from acclaimed French films from directors such as Godard, Truffaut, Besson and Jeunet, each related to a specific theme or emotions. Finally, we will conclude the course by staging a short scene from either a play or a film that we worked on in class. This class is recommended to advanced-level students of French; the class meets 2 hours a week, and students are expected to practice and memorize lines between sessions.
