Romeo & Juliet

Featuring an all female cast, Romeo & Juliet is the company's second Shakespeare production following the success of their all female "Macbeth" in 2009. This time, Babes With Blades takes on the classic tale of star-crossed lovers and has set the production in Italy's late 19th century Liberal Period, prior to the Fascist takeover. Featured combat will include rapier and dagger.

According to director Brian LaDuca, "Giving the time and place a factual identity allows all on stage to play against the social, economical, and political stresses of such a dynamic period in the world." He adds, "I think a true place and time allows the audience to have true and honest reactions."

The cast includes Gillian N. Humiston*, Ashley Fox, Megan Schemmel, Delia Ford*, Amy E. Harmon*, Maggie Kettering, Katie Horwitz, Rachael Miller, and Kim Fukawa*. Returning as guest artist is Eleanor Katz following her appearance as Zeva in the 2010 production of "The Last Daughter of Oedipus."

Romeo & Juliet is directed by Brian LaDuca with Wyatt Kent as Assistant Director. The production staff includes Scenic Design by Bill Anderson, Lighting Design by Leigh Barrett*, Violence Design by Libby Beyreis*, Costume Design by Ricky Lurie, and Sound Design by Harrison Adams. Stage Manager is Kjers McHugh* and Producer is Dustin Spence.
