Agave On Fire: A Mezcal Affair will showcase 10 Mezcal brands, food booths, cocktails and more at Portlands very first Mezcal tasting show. The event will be open to the public.
Mezcal is varietal and terroir driven, just like wine, but few outside of Oaxaca have the opportunity to taste its diversity in one place at one time, and in Oregon were especially deprived of Mezcal because of our state run liquor laws. But, on Saturday, October 13th, Xico will welcome 10 boutique producers of artisanal Mezcal to Portland and make the ultra craft spirit available to the public for tasting and education.
Tasting booths for Wahaka, Vago, Sombra, Leyenda, Del Maguey, Mezcal Union, Craft Distillers' Mezcalero, Alipus, Los Nahuales and Peloton de Muerte run by representatives for each brand, will offer pours and intimate details about each bottling. You might've noticed that Mezcal is getting hipper, and this is your chance to delve in and experience what makes this spirit unique, traditional and progressive at once.
Xico's regional, Mexican cuisine will be available for purchase.
We've been shouting about Mezcal from our rooftops for 7 years and are truly excited to host this show at Xico!
