JILL JACK wsg Venitia Sekema
Ferndale, MI - JILL JACK is one of those canny and original singer/songwriters whos flown under the radar, quietly building herself a huge and loyal following in her home state of Michigan. Along the way, she has amassed a recorded catalog of uncommon depth, passion, and vision, winning 24 Detroit Music Awards in the last decade across three different genres (Acoustic/Folk, Country, and Pop/Rock) for vocalist, songwriter, album, and artist. Jill creates a musical tapestry of elegance, grace, and rugged self-reliance. That she can carry them all in the grain of her voice as the foundation of hard-won truth is simply captivating . Jill's 6th CD, "Moon and the Morning After" put her on the national radar - receiving airplay around the US - one radio station said: "Jill Jack; I just keep thinking somehow that if Waylon Jennings was a woman, it would be her! She's sharp, she's witty, and she's got soul. Most important, I think based on her songwriting and style, she's got staying power; she gives Tift Merritt some real competition." With such high demand from Jill's fans purchasing the song "Live Like There's no Tomorrow" Jill decided to release the single while currently working on her 7th full length CD "Songwriter Sessions" which will be released in 2009.

"Her voice can soar like opera and smoke like the blues ... one of the strongest voices in Detroit, or in the country for that matter." (The Detroit Free Press)

"Jill Jack has all the makings of a major talent. She's got the stage presence, the voice, the ability to interpret songs passionately ... there's a lot of soul in what she does" (Billboard Magazine )

Performances Highlights: 2008: 31st Ann Arbor Folk Festival, sharing the stage with Emmylou Harris, Shawn Colvin, Patty Grffin, Buddy Miller and more. 2007: Meadowbrook Theater opening for Lorretta Lynn. 2006 summer performances include: headlining the WYCD Downtown Hoedown (the largest free country music event in the world) as Budweiser's Artist of Choice, Blissfest Music Festival (one of the largest folk music festivals in the Midwest) sharing the stage with Eliza Gilkyson, opening for numerous National Acts at DTE Engery Music Theatre (Detroit), as well as performances at the Bluebird Caf in Nashville, The Ark in Ann Arbor, and The Living Room in New York City.
