Gas Lamp Players is an independent arts organization that uses the facilities of the Glen Ridge Public Schools. For the past two decades, GLP has produced a full scale musical each fall, providing residents of Glen Ridge and neighboring communities the opportunity to perform, work on crew, and participate in the production of amazing shows. Our musical productions are directed, staged, and performed by members and friends of the Glen Ridge community, many of who are professionals or former theater professionals.
From the GLP's first production of the Wizard of O, nearly 20 years ago, to the 2006 performance of Fiddler on the Roof, the Players' mission has been to inspire creativity, and build confidence and self-esteem in our performers by nurturing their talent and creativity. We offer an engaging, professional and fun forum for children, teens and adults to work together acting, building sets, playing music, singing and working on crewunder the tutelage of our adult participants.
The Gas Lamp Players is 100% funded by revenues generated through participation fees, ticket sales & program ads, and is primarily run by volunteers. We welcome anyone with an interest in the performing arts to become involved with our programs. The Glen Ridge Board of Education provides valuable space for practice and performances in the Ridgewood Avenue Auditorium. The Gas Lamp Players donates revenue from each performance back to the school to help maintain and upgrade the production facilities. We are proud to have played a substantial role in the recent renovation of the Ridgewood Avenue Auditorium, and are extremely grateful for the continued support of the Glen Ridge school district.
