MOM BABY GOD

MOM BABY GOD is a new one-woman show that takes audiences inside the anti-abortion movement. The show follows a rising teenage anti-abortion activist as she navigates the political terrain at the fictionalized Students for Life of America Conference. Seven other characters%u2013from ministers to abstinence-only sex educators%u2013provide humorous, insightful and alarming looks into the anti-abortion movement at a time when reproductive rights are at the center of U.S. political debate.

MOM BABY GOD brings live theatre and political activism together in a powerful new way. Audiences are immersed in the tactics and rhetoric of the anti-abortion movement as they don name-tags upon entrance into the performance space and become conference participants. MOM BABY GOD aims to inspire renewed commitment to reproductive rights advocacy by exposing how effectively the anti-abortion movement is stripping away women%u2019s reproductive rights.

Developed by reproductive rights activist, actor and playwright Madeline Burrows, MOM BABY GOD is based on a year of undercover research and interviews at anti-abortion conferences, fundraisers and rallies. Forty years after Roe v. Wade, MOM BABY GOD explores how girls develop a sense of self and sexuality amidst the ongoing political backlash against feminism and reproductive rights.
