The Weirdo Show presents: Weirdo Tales!
This Halloween, the Weirdo Show goes to a slightly darker place, with acts that could have burst from the pages of pulp horror and dime store novels! Breaking from the Weirdo Show tradition of a straight variety showcase, this show is *gasp* THEMED! Rats behind the walls, reflections waving at you, this show is putting the weird in "Weirdo Tales!" And maybe, just maybe, somewhere sitting in the back will be Clark Ashton Smith, Robert Howard, and H.P. Lovecraft nodding in the darkness! Lets meet the performers!
Rich Potter has been a clown since birth, when he tied his own umbilical cord into a balloon dog. Unfortunately for them, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus had to wait two decades to benefit from his talents. His tours with the circus led him to Japan, and since, he has toured with his solo performances in 24 countries, been on "The Late Show with David Letterman" and spent 9 years with Big Apple Circus' Clown Care Unit. He is co-creator of "Delusions of Grandeur," "The Heist" and is a co-producer of Washington DC's Clown Cabaret, a theatrical showcase for non-governmental buffoons.
Spinnabel Lee performs circus-style hoop shows and fire dancing spectacles at a wide variety of cabarets, corporate events, and private extravaganzas throughout the mid-Atlantic and beyond. Owner and lead entertainer of her NoVA.-based fire and contemporary circus entertainment company Spinnabel Lee Entertainment, Spinnabel's obsessions with emotive dance, dark humor, and dusty vintage circus explode in a creative cacophony of highly entertaining movement and prop manipulation anywhere she stumbles.
Cherie Sweetbottom, the Ambassador of Skin, is armed with a megawatt smile and a posterior that's been described as "hypnotizing". She draws on years of dance, theatre, and music experience to create vivid character-driven burlesque. Cherie produces House of Sweetbottom Blues & Burlesque Revue, co-produces DC's premiere nerdy burlesque troupe the Evil League of Ecdysiasts, and performs regularly with Naked Girls Reading DC. She is a member of the 1930s Dust Bowl traveling circus experience The Carnivalesque Roadshow, produced by Baltimore's Gilded Lily Burlesque and internationally acclaimed compere Armitage Shanks. Cherie has performed all over the East Coast, including the Americana Burlesque & Sideshow Festival in Asheville, NC, the Great Burlesque Exposition in Boston, MA, and the New York Burlesque Festival.
Buster Schoen "Buster Britches: DC's Creepshow Casanova is a new transplant to the DC community, but a crowd favorite every time he performs. Buster is the producer of the Virginia Independent Horror Film Festival and the producer of the 5 Spot Sideshow in Richmond. He is excited to be invited to perform with the Weirdo Show. If he seems thirsty onstage, its only appropriate for this show to buy him a Jim Beam Ghost on the rocks."
Meet the deviously dainty carnival darling, Alex Doll; Hailing from DC, this dynamic damsel is an independent producer for Ripley's Believe It Or Not and textual maven at James Taylor's "Shocked and Amazed: On and Off the Midway". As a performer, she has brought sideshow to life on DMV stages and beyond- catch her LIVE on stage in your own backyard!
We have a very special guest host for this show, the creator, producer and host of MONSTER MADHOUSE TELEVISION, Karlos Borloff! Seen all over the world hosting his television show, he brings laughter, scares, and B movie amazingness to the airwaves, but tonight he brings it directly to you! And who knows, there may be a special taping of the show...
