Join us in the Here and Now on Saturday October 25'th, 1pm-3pm.
We meet to partake in activities that coax our consciousness away from else-where, else-when and towards non-judgemental awareness of present moment internal and external events.
Our workshop consists of a mix of physical, cognitive and emotional Engaged Presence practices.
Nourish yourself before the workshop to sustain activity for 2 hours.
Dress for comfort while moving.
We will take 5 a minute break at the midpoint of the workshop.
The inward focused activities leave you feeling more connected with your own body. Your mind will be relaxed, and you will feel accomplished and positive.
The outward focused activities help you experience deeper perception of, and fuller connection with the world around you.
You have never experienced anything like this before. Be open to the possibilities!
Matthew Sexton I have been studying and performing Improvisational Acting since 2002, taking advanced instruction from Seattle's 'Unexpected Productions', San Francisco's 'BATS Improv' and have work-shopped with various improvisational luminaries including Keith Johnstone, Matt Smith, Rebecca Stockley and Garry Schwartz, and many others. In 2008 I attended Seattle's Freehold Theatre year long Meisner Progression under Robin Lynn Smith.
Since 2009 I have been teaching 'Engaged Presence' practice, an on-your-feet mindfulness meditation that grows participants ability to interact in helpful, authentic, playful, perceptive and expressive ways and to gracefully respond to social cognitive overload.
I provide workshops for adults and teenagers for The New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department, adults at Albuquerque's 'Cornucopia Adult Day Care' facility, inmates at the Metropolitan Detention Center, and the general public at Albuquerque's 'The Source ABQ'.
