Self-Portrait Drawing: Saturday, October 25th & November 22nd 1-3PM ($25)
Students will work on creating representational self-portraits from direct observation using charcoal. Self-portraits are not only a part of the Visual Arts Shadow day, but are also a required piece for The Academy's portfolio review. Whether considering using this piece for the portfolio review this fall or are 6th grader using charcoal for the first time, this workshop gives great insight into Visual Arts at the Academy!
Three Steps to Better Drawing: Saturday, November 8th 1-2PM (FREE)
In just one hour attendees will learn how to make a better drawing! This workshop introduces students to the three most important skills needed when drawing from direct observation. Using charcoal, students will receive individual training on how to improve their current skill set. This workshop follows The Academy's Open House.
Illusions of Space: Saturday, November 15th 1-3PM ($25)
This workshop introduces students to techniques and strategies that create space and depth in compositions. Using charcoal and working off of a still life, students will focus on the abstract and formal qualities that create the illusion of space within their drawings. Attendees will also learn the rules of one and two point perspectives.
All classes are located in the Visual Arts Studio of The Chicago Academy for the Arts (1010 W. Chicago Ave., Chicago, IL 60642). All supplies will be provided to students.
