South Boston Community Health Center's Harvest of Hope 2014
For nearly half a century, the South Boston Community Health Center has been an invaluable resource to the residents of South Boston and beyond for primary and preventive medicine. The Health Center is the only provider of primary health services to the neighborhood, providing over 60,000 visits a year. We pride ourselves on the fact that no one who is seeking care is ever turned away. Our services have grown with the needs of the community and now include addiction prevention and recovery services, a food pantry where we feed over 400 families a month, an on-site pharmacy as well as a recently opened digital mammography suite.
In addition to raising much-needed funds for the Health Center, the event itself will be a night to remember. This year, we have the honor of recognizing the accomplishments of two very special people with "Partner In Hope" awards: Mayor Martin Walsh and Gail Hobin. Mayor Walsh has been a friend to South Boston Community Health Center for many years. His inspirational leadership and commitment to the health of South Boston and our residents is unmatched. Gail Hobin, a member of our Board of Directors has blazed a trail of her own as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Community Relations at the University of Massachusetts. Her commitment to community is evidenced by her outstanding service on our board and her dedication to our mission. These two remarkable individuals have made lasting contributions - not only to the people we serve, but to the entire health care community.
Billy Costa will be serving as our MC and auctioneer this year and the evening will include a number of outstanding live and silent auction items; scrumptious food and cocktails; and lively entertainment. It should be a wonderful evening.
