*Shining Night : A Portrait of Composer Morten Lauridsen Screening and Sarasota Choral Festival
Key Chorale invites amateur choral singers to participate in a week-long Festival where participants will have the unique opportunity to rehearse Morten Lauridsen's Lux Aeterna under the direction of Maestro Joseph Caulkins in a festival choir setting. Key Chorale members will make a cameo appearance performing O Magnum Mysterium and Sure on This Shining Night.
The performance will take place in conjunction with a screening of the documentary film, "Shining Night: A Portrait of Composer Morten Lauridsen." Winner of two Best Documentary awards, called a 'heartening rarity' by the Wall Street Journal, this documentary offers a contemplative reflection on the life and music of Morten Lauridsen, a National Medal of Arts recipient named an 'American Choral Master' by the National Endowment for the Arts. Lauridsen has achieved the status of the most frequently performed modern choral composer.
