Come, learn about the Holy Days of 5 Religions:
Navaratri, Waqf al Arafa & Eid al Adha, St. Francis Feast Day, Bodhidharma Day, Sukkhot.

"Navaratri"(celebrated October 3, 2014).
Presenter: Kartik Venkatesh, Amma Satsang Redmond.
Navaratri is the greatest of all the Hindu festivals, Navaratri, a Sanskrit word, means 9 nights. 9 forms of Devi Durga (the Supreme Deity in female form) is worshiped during this festival celebrated in India following different regional customs.

"Waqf al Arafa" (celebrated October 3, 2014)and Eid al Adha (celebrated October 4-7, 2014).
Presenter: Zafar Sarwar, Ahmadiyyah Muslim Community.
Waqf al Arafa is an Islamic observance during Hajj when pilgrims pray for forgiveness and mercy. Eid al Adha is the Islamic Festival of Sacrifice, and recalls Prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God.

"St. Francis Feast Day" (celebrated October 4, 2014).
Presenter: Hannah Hochkeppel, Seattle University Campus Ministry. St. Francis was a Christian saint who believed nature was the mirror of God. He called all creatures his brother and sisters and even preached to the birds.

"Bodhidharma Day" (celebrated October 5, 2014).
Presenter: Trevor Youngquist, Dai Bai Zan Cho Bo Zen Ji.
Bodhidharma is known as the 'barbarian' who first brought what was to become Zen Buddhism from India to China and is known as the First Chinese Ancestor of our lineage.

"Sukkot" Feast of Booths (celebrated October 8th, 2014).
Presenter: Rabbi Jaclyn Cohen, Temple de Hirsch-Sinai. The Sukkah is a simple structure covered with plant material built each harvest as a reminder of the fragile dwellings the Israelites dwelt in during their 40 years in the desert after the Exodus from Egypt.
