GMO-Labeling Dinner and After-Party at Expo East 2014
Sponsored by .ORGANIC and Suja

Join us for an organic dinner and after-party during Natural Products Expo East in Baltimore, MD to help raise money for Oregon and Colorado's GE-labeling campaigns.

The buffet dinner will begin at 7:30PM and seating is very limited. Tickets are $150 and will include admission to the after-party. Vegetarian options will be available.

The after-party will begin at 9PM and tickets will be available at the door for $20.

The event will be taking place on the rooftop (6th floor) at the Inn at the Black Olive, which is located at 803 South Caroline Street in Baltimore.

Net proceeds will be equally donated to the GMO-labeling campaigns in Oregon and Colorado.  All ticket sales are final and no refunds. This is a NOT a tax-deductible event.

DOES THE U.S. LABEL GMOs?

No. Even though 64 countries around the world (EU, Japan, Australia, Brazil, China) require that genetically-modified food (GMOs) be labeled, the U.S. does not.

Polls consistently show that over 90% of American citizens want GMOs to be labeled, but politicians in DC, influenced by hundreds of millions of dollars in campaign contributions and lobbying by Big Ag, have refused to recognize the wishes of its constituencies.

WHY ARE THE OREGON AND COLORADO BALLOT INITIATIVES SO IMPORTANT?

Due to the fact that GMO-labeling has been refused on the federal level, it is now up to citizens to pass GMO-labeling on the state level.

Oregon and Colorado are our best chances in 2014 since citizens will be voting on this measure, not politicians.

IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE OF WASHINGTON, DOES THIS VOTE IMPACT YOU?

With having recently won GMO-labeling in Vermont, a win in both Oregon and Colorado is essential to continue the momentum and this will give other states across the country the encouragement to do the same.

WHAT ARE GMOs?

A genetically-engineered food is a plant or meat product that has had its DNA artificially altered in a laboratory by genes from other plants, animals, viruses, or bacteria in order to produce foreign compounds in that food.

This type of genetic alteration is not found in nature and is experimental.

Approximately 75-80% of the food on supermarket shelves is genetically-modified.  This includes certain baby formulas and a high percentage of corn, soy, cotton and sugar beets commonly used in processed foods sold in the U.S.
