"An Awkward Sensation" in Chicago - one night only!
UPDATE: The show was just named BEST OF FRINGE at the San Francisco Fringe Festival, selling out its entire run!
It's that feeling you get when you're laughing and slightly unsettled at the same time. Allison Daniel (named a "Young Master" by Puppetry International Magazine) and Kurt Bodden (creator of the hit solo show "Steve Seabrook: Better Than You") combine sketch comedy, physical theater, mime, puppetry, and clowning to concoct a world of the ridiculous and strange and hilarious. You might never feel the same way again about flying insects, tweed jackets, or peanut butter.
Al and Kurt met in the conservatory program at Flying Actor Studio in San Francisco, studying physical performance with master teachers James Donlon and Leonard Pitt.
AL DANIEL (OneFleaCircus.com) is a physical performer with rich training in puppetry, mime, clown, mask, and acrobatics. She is a graduate of the Clown Conservatory program at Circus Center in San Francisco, Flying Actor Studio, and the Sandglass Puppetry manipulation intensive. In Chicago Al designed and built (as well as sometimes performing or directing) large-scale puppets for theatre companies including The Joffrey Ballet, Chicago Dramatists, Blair Thomas, House Theatre, the Marriott Theatre of Lincolnshire, and Redmoon Theatre. Her work in both performance and construction give her a wealth of possibilities to mix and match into a unique world of joy, insanity, and unique perspectives.
KURT BODDEN (kurtbodden.com) is a comedian, writer, and actor. His hit solo show satirizing the personal-growth industry, "Steve Seabrook: Better Than You," recently ran for six months in San Francisco. It has been hailed as "comically subversive" (Huffington Post), "very funny" (SF Chronicle), and "pitch-perfect" (SF Examiner). A long-time improvisor, Kurt performed at the Edinburgh Fringe with his long-form troupe. He's a graduate of the sketch-comedy program at The Groundlings in Los Angeles. He has toured as a standup comic and warmed up audiences at television tapings in Los Angeles. And he has performed extensively on the storytelling circuit in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
