ART Works: The Throwdown 3
September 26, 2014
6-9 PM
318 Dauphin Street

Shaking up the traditional silent auction, Mobile Arts Council has created an event that you don't want to miss!

This one-of-a-kind silent auction/ loud party features a competition like none other seen in Mobile. Inspired by concepts from some of TV's most-loved competition shows, Mobile Arts Council has drafted five artists to compete in a battle of creativity. (think Chopped and Iron Chef)

Returning to defend his belt is two-time Throwdown Champion Jim Hayward. Hayward will be pitted against four ambitious and hungry artists. Each contestant will be given a box containing pre-selected unknown items, a shared supply closet, and 90 minutes to create new works of art. These masterpieces will be sold in a live auction at the end of the evening.

New to this year's live auction is the ThrowOn, our spin on wearable art, featuring five uniquely-painted dresses; and ThrowOff, pottery created by some of our most talented local potters.

The silent auction consists of items donated by area artists and organizations, ranging from paintings, photographs, ceramics and sculptures to tickets for performances and weekend get-a-ways.

While watching the competition and bidding, party goers can enjoy dancing to the spins of local D.J. Hunter Clark, food provided by Heroes and The Royal Scam, plenty of beer, wine and, of course, MAC's signature cocktail:  "The Red Rooster".

ART Works is the Mobile Arts Council's largest annual fundraiser.  All proceeds go to support our mission of bringing people and art together.

This event is sponsored by: Ruth's Chris, Heroe's Sports Bar and Grill, The Royal Scam, Optera Creative, Iberia Bank, Hand Arendall, BAE, Regions Bank, JRB Associates, Starnes Davis Florie, Hancock Bank, O'Gwynn Condominiums and Hemline.
