Thoughtful Setting
New York City Restaurant Riverpark hosts artists Kathryn Adams and Nick Moen for Thoughtful Setting: a collaborative dining experience of local food and handmade tableware
August 1st, 2014
Thoughtful Setting: handmade tableware meets locally sourced food
Acclaimed Chef Sisha Ortúzar and Riverpark will present a collaboration of fine cuisine on handmade tableware by glass artist Kathryn Adam and ceramic artist Nick Moen. On September 10th thirty people will have the opportunity to experience a three-course dinner served family style with multiple dishes and sides per course of locally sourced food served on artisan porcelain and glass.
Kathryn Adams and Nick Moen maintain a studio practice in a major epicenter of fine craft in Asheville, North Carolina. Through conversations with Riverpark, artists Adams and Moen have created a cohesive porcelain and glass tableware line to compliment Chef Ortúzar's menu.
Chef Ortúzar will create the menu that week inspired by the freshest produce from local greenmarkets, farms and Riverpark Farm. The restaurant sources from award-winning Riverpark Farm at Alexandria Center, which in its fourth consecutive growing season has become one of the largest urban farms in New York City.
This dinner experience will be a novel way to exemplify the discourse surrounding the sustainability of local food and craftspeople. Handmade tableware elevates the dining experience and reinforces the connection between craft and local food movements. The handmade tableware line Adams and Moen have created will augment the dynamic culinary destination restaurateur Tom Colicchio and Chef Sisha Ortúzar have created.
Tickets are $200 per person. Availability is limited to thirty guests. Guests will have the opportunity to take the experience home by purchasing the limited edition tableware.
