Since the 1800's, Sumpter, OR has been through a lot of tumultuous times. The fight for gold was fierce and the stakes were high. With this came tragedy - a fire that burned down nearly one hundred buildings in twelve city blocks within just a few hours. Deaths related to mining accidents were commonplace, and horrific acts against Chinese laborers/immigrants stained the ground. As a result, ghosts are abound.
Each year Ben Robison holds the Annual Haunted Sumpter Event. This year, Casey Goodwin has been brought on board to co-host the event. It showcases 3 locations over a 2 day period to class/investigation ticket holders. On the first night there will be a class and an investigation held at the Sumpter Dredge AND an investigation at the beautiful Sumpter Bed & Breakfast. The second night will consist of a self-guided day exploration, Campfire Stories, class, and an encore investigation of the Sumpter Bed & Breakfast.
We are offering three ticket options for each date:
- The first ticket includes entrance for TWO to the class/investigation, a one night stay for TWO at the Sumpter Bed & Breakfast in the room of your choice, and breakfast the next morning. Check out is at 11AM.
- The second ticket option is for the only THREE occupancy bedroom at the bed & breakfast (The Rose Room). This ticket includes entrance for THREE to the class/investigation, a one night stay for THREE in the Rose Room, and breakfast the next morning. Check out is at 11AM.
- The third option is for those who wish to attend the class/investigation ONLY (does not include a room at the bed & breakfast). This class/investigation ONLY option includes entrance for ONE to the class/investigation on the date chosen.
Paranormal 101
The classes we are offering at this year's event have been tailored to the environments you will be investigating. Whether its a day or night investigation, we'll give you the pros and cons of both.
Indoor investigations
This class will address the advantages of investigating indoors as well as uncover the potential hazards of investigating older buildings. We will also cover various topics ranging from safety and procedures, data logging and investigative techniques used by real world paranormal researchers. The last part of the class will be spent covering the proper handling and operation of some key pieces of equipment used in this field, as well as how to avoid false positives in your findings.
Outdoor Investigations
This class will address the challenges when investigating outdoors and how to be mindful of your surroundings and respectful of the grounds. We will also cover various topics ranging from safety and procedures, data logging and investigative techniques used by real world paranormal researchers. The last part of the class will be spent covering the the proper handling and operation of some key pieces of equipment used in this field, as well as how to avoid false positives in your findings.
*Note: If you would like to attend the class/investigation and/or stay at the bed & breakfast on both nights, you must purchase a ticket for each date. Also, while the rooms include a double or triple occupancy, you may book it for a single occupancy use (the price is the same regardless). When purchasing your room ticket, please note whether you are a single or double (or triple for the Rose Room ONLY) occupancy, and, if you have more than one person in your room, please include the name(s) of those staying with you so we can update our class/investigation roster.
