Today, dentists can offer more treatment options for patient's simple and complex problems. Metal-ceramics often remains the "state-of-the-art" for complex prosthodontics. The single phase or monolithic all-ceramic materials have become increasingly more popular. These types of dental ceramic materials are dominating the market and future development bringing with it more long-term success.
This presentation will provide a look at failure modes and effects in bi-layer all-ceramic crown-cement-tooth systems, tying together the influences on resistance geometry; cement modulus and layer thickness; damage induced by shaping, fabrication, clinical adjustments, and sandblasting; and fatigue in the wet intraoral environment.
This presentation will present a collaborative approach to patient care including the management of cases compromised by prosthetic challenges with loss of vertical dimension, periodontal treatment planning decisions regarding when to save the tooth versus place an implant and the challenge of bone reconstruction in preparation for dental implant therapy.
Treatment today relies on dental materials that have a proven long-term survival that allows the clinician to develop the most esthetic care.
Learning Objectives: to understand interdisciplinary and laboratory treatment sequencing in complex patient care. to understand prosthodontic objectives and how to minimize long-term risk.
