2014 NW Regional RPCV Campout
Cougar Rock Campground
Longmire, WA
Share this event:

Join SEAPAX at the Cougar Rock Campground, on the southwest side of Mt. Rainier National Park, for the 2014 NW Regional RPCV Campout. Now in its 24th year, our campout is a unique gathering of RPCVs from multiple groups in a single geographical region.

Not far from the campground is Paradise, the most popular destination in the park, with a lodge and visitor center, many miles of hiking trails and a commanding view of the mountain--the highest in the state and Cascade range.

Popular activities in the park include wildflower walks, hiking, rock climbing as well as camping. Hiking options are available right from the campground.

Park rangers offer a variety of free programs, ranging from informal talks at visitor centers to junior ranger programs for kids (ages 6-11) to evening campfire programs. Topics vary daily and may include geology, wildlife, ecology, mountaineering, or park history. Schedules are posted throughout the park, as well as in the park newspaper.

Campout information

Check-in begins at 1:00 on Thursday, August 14; checkout by noon on Sunday, August 17. We will be in group campsites F002 and F003 (loop F).

RVs are not permitted in group sites and RV-ers will need to register their own individual campsite and register for Saturday dinner only. Visit Recreation.gov (1-877-444-6777) or find more details on the SEAPAX web site.

Saturday night dinner will be provided by SEAPAX and Sunday morning breakfast by next year's regional campout host, CRPCA. You are on your own for all other meals.

Note there is a $15 entry fee (valid for a week) per car into the national park, separate from the campout fee.  Several park passes include this entry fee, including the Mount Rainier Annual Pass and National Parks Senior, Access, and Military passes.
