DIY Couture in 8 Hours: The A-Line Skirt
There is no better place to learn advanced sewing techniques than at the Fashion Design Center at the Bridgeport Art Center. Our studio is surrounded by Chicago's own up and coming designers and the air is filled with inspiration and talent. The beginning or intermediate sewing series is a requirement for this workshop.
In our DIY Couture in 8 hours you will be making your own pattern, draping your fabrics, and constructing your garment. Using your measurements, you will draft a basic pattern in a knee length A-line shape and stitch it together in one day. with a waistband, zipper closure and hook and eye. This unlined skirt design will teach you how to make beautifully finished seams, install a waistband, zipper closure, and hook and eye. This skirt is ideal for spring and summer in Chicago!
