African Music Fest Music Instrument Drive
The Music Instruments Drive will engage you, organizations, and institutions in Olympia, WA who are interested in Africa, youth, philanthropy, and arts education to help One Vibe Africa and Mazigazi band collect musical instruments for creating a sustainable future for youth through One Vibe's Arts Mentorship program in Kisumu, Kenya.
ARTISTS INVOLVED Mazigazi Band is Their high-energy music focuses on cross-cultural experiences, environmental awareness, and a passion for co-existence in an interconnected world! Mazigazi band is based in Olympia, WA. Please visit them on Facebook for more information.
Kamau Ngigi: His music is complete with philosophical lyrics on sociopolitical messages that address the struggles of youth in Africa. Kamau is a renowned hip-hop artist in East-Africa, and part of Kalamashaka, which paved the way for Swahili hip hop to become mainstream in Kenya.
Simon Okelo: He is a storyteller, drummer, and player of "Nyatiti" (a traditional African harp). Simon is also the founder and Executive Director of One Vibe Africa.
Abby Ruskey: Abby is a musician-songwriter and self-made instrument builder exploring the roots of the healing power of music. Abby is also the Executive Director of E3 Washington that integrates education, environment, and the economy to achieve a healthy and sustainable future for all.
