MRI - the Power of Investigation, Helpful Diagnosis, and Collaboration
This Conference was initiated because 2017 is Finland's Centenary Year, and Finnfest 2017 would be held in Minneapolis, with the Minnesota Orchestra having an all-Finnish program, along with numerous lectures and other events in September, 2017. I felt there should be a medically pertinent program that would take into consideration Minnesota's rich medical device and research facilities. This symposium follows a biennial program put on by the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research (CMRR), called "Minnesota Workshop on High and Ultra-High Field Imaging and Training Course", a four day event with speakers and attendees from all over the world.
CMRR at the University of Minnesota has the most powerful MRI in the world, followed by the University of Eastern Finland in Kuopio, Finland, which is Minneapolis' Sister City. There is much collaboration between them, and at any time, there are several Kuopio researchers at the CMRR. I wanted a program that could be understood by a non-professional, but robust enough for medical professionals. I felt that my program would help promote the value of the CMRR and the interaction with other research institutions, during this momentous year.
This event will be from 5 pm to 9:30 pm on October 7, 2017, in the Education Building Auditorium at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, 800 East 28th Street, Minneapolis, MN, 55407. There will be a light dinner available, starting at 5 pm. Parking is available in adjacent parking ramps. The event tickets are available over BrownPaterTickets.com for $25.

5:40 - 6:00. Introduction by Eugene Ollila, M.D., Retired ANWH Internist and member of the Finnsource Committee planning Finnfest 2017.
6:00 -6:30. Shalom Micheali, PhD., researcher at CMRR, "Mastering Electromagnetic Fields: Achievements and Opportunities for MRI and Neuromodulation Research".
6:30 - 7:00. Neeraj Chepuri, M.D., Neuroradiologist, formerly President, Consulting Radiology, Peering Inside the Skull: A Brief History of Neurological Imaging".
7:00 - 7:30. Micheal Nelson, M. D., Professor of Radiology, University of Minnesota, "The Diagnosis and Treatment of Breast Cancer Using High Field MRI".
7:30 - 8:00. John Trusheim, M. D., Minneapolis Neuroscience Institute and Assoc Professor of Neurology, University of Minnesota, "How the Coming Use of Computer Power and Artificial Intelligence will Change the Field of Medicine"
8:30 - 9:00. Karen Ba, M. S., Consumer Research, "MRI Consumers - The Mystery Knee and the Case of the Missing MRI". This will look at the problem of "Why is the pain still there but the expensive study is normal"?
9:00 - 9:30. Question Period and Final Summary.
