RESCUE 419 SERIES AND PIZZA
Four breweries in Toledo have teamed up in response to the third alarm fire at Wachter Apartment Complex on June 13th in Toledo. Brewers from Black Cloister Brewing Company, Black Frog Brewery, Earnest Brew Works, and Maumee Bay Brewing Company met after the fire to determine what their breweries could do to aid the Toledo community. For the first time in the Toledo region, the four brewers agreed to produce four different SMaSH beers. Smash (single malt and single hop) brewing is a method that allows the brewers to highlight each aspect of ingredients used in the beer recipe. Each brewer chose two of their favorite hops, wrote the name down on a slip of paper, and placed them in a hat. After drawing two slips from the hat, each brewer had to select one of their two choices to be used in their version of the SMaSH beer creating a unique offering from each brewery.
All four breweries will donate a portion of their sales from the ticket and food sales of the Rescue 419 series promotional events such as this to the NW Ohio Chapter of the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY during the event hours, Black Cloister Brewing Company will offer a 5 oz flight all four of the RESCUE 419 beers. This will be your ONLY chance to get a flight of all four beers. The other participating breweries will either not carry all four beers as a result of liquor license requirements or not offer a flight. IN ADDITION, Black Cloister will throw in 5 slices (one-half pie) of a 2-topping pizza in the event price.
