Statements After An Arrest Under the Immorality Act
Statements After An Arrest Under The Immorality Act depicts the love affair between a black man and a white woman in apartheid South Africa. They share with each other their deepest longings compelling questions about life while battling the oppressive laws of their society, as well as their own unconscious prejudices, fears, and dreams. Athol Fugard creates a provocative piece that cries for social change without ever uttering a word of political revolution, but instead absorbs us empathetically into the world of two lovers that risk their lives for a dangerous love that dares to defy all the rules.
