An evening dedicated to the greatly acclaimed young composer, Erik Ransom, and some of his legendary musical friends. Erik takes you on a journey from his humble roots in smalltown Pennsylvania to the stages of greater New York. Join him as he tells of his odyssey overcoming being virtually ignored in his hometown to being feted and toasted in the best rooms of New York theater spaces. This talented dynamo weaves a scintillating tale chronicling his arrival on the Manhattan scene. It's a playbook many should study if they love the arts.

Erik Ransom is a composer, playwright, librettist and performer with a diverse body of work. "COMING: A Rock Musical of Biblical Proportions was Eriks first foray as a writer and, within a year of starting the first draft, he was fortunate enough to see it fully produced at The Prince Music Theatre in February 2011. In Philadelphia and later at the 2014 New York International Fringe Festival, COMING played to packed houses and glowingly positive reviews, including raves from The Huffington Post, BroadwayWorld, Edge Magazine and The Philadelphia Inquirer. Erik penned the lyrics for the Off-Broadway musical spectacular: THE ANTHEM, which ran at The Culture Project's Lynn Redgrave Theatre. Erik is slated to join the writing team for season two of the 2017 Emmy-nominated Amazon Prime series, TAINTED DREAMS. Erik wrote songs for the feature film "Happy Yummy Chicken" in which he stars alongside Taryn Manning of "Orange is the New Black". On the musical front, his smutty opus, GRINDR The Opera premiered in concert in Spring of 2014 and had a high profile staged reading in April 2015 which was covered by The Daily Beast, The Guardian, Salon.com and Newstalk Radio Ireland among other news outlets. The world-premiere production of MORE THAN ALL THE WORLD inspired by Marlowes EDWARD II was produced by Lil Rascal Theatre Company at Theater for the New City in November, 2016, after successful readings at The Musical Theatre Factory and The York Theatre. For the August 7 & 14, 2017 performances, various guest artists, "Grindr The Opera" in concert:

Set in the year 2009, at the dawn of the age of the hook-up app,GRINDR: The Operathrusts the most notorious gay hook-up app into the exaggerated world of the American opera. With musical styles ranging from baroque to contemporary pop,GRINDR: The Operais a daring, humorous look at the changing landscape of gay relationships.
We meetGRINDR, a mythical siren from remote antiquity who has been awoken from her millennial slumber by technology. Her power, which is derived from human lust, is exhibited as she manipulates her gay devotees in a soaring soprano.
Next we meet the boys: Devon is a romantic, Tom is a cynic, Jack is a twink, and Don is a daddy. These four gay men of different Tribes, meet via the medium of the Grindr app, each seeking a different type of connection.GRINDRguides them to intersect to hilarious and calamitous results, culminating in a grand finale wherein all the dirty laundry tumbles out.
Though the opera lives in the world of parody, it touches on some very serious, hot-button issues that exist in the gay community as it transitions into a time of wider acceptance and easy access to opportunities of both romance and lust to be sated.

For the August 21, 2017 performance, guest artist, David J. Raleigh;

On the surface, David Raleigh exudes a romantic youthfulness with his impeccable piano/vocal prowess. Look a little deeper and its clear that this New York City local, lauded by Time Out Magazine as the Nat King Cole for a new generation, has the old soul songwriting sensibilities of some of the greatest performers of our time.

Originally born in Rochester, New York, David Raleigh grew up in Seattle, Washington on a stable diet of pop/rock and gospel music. Discovered as a teen, Davids first record Totally Psyched sent him on the road touring the country at an early age. Later basing himself in New York City, David released his highly acclaimed second album, Never Alone. His music has been featured numerous times on the big screen. His sophomore album,Beginning Again, (2010) boasted a lead single that joined VH1s general playlist and spent 10 consecutive weeks in Logo (MTV)s top ten.

While many artists would dream of a successful career in any one genre, David Raleigh is a bon vivant that combines the best of both worlds, and his heartfelt music continues to cross musical boundaries and transport the listener to a timeless era of music and passion.
