The Fabric of Connection - Labor and Birth prep with the Rebozo
In this 3 hour class I will teach couples how to create connection, skills and techniques of the rebozo to help the mother and provide comfort, strength and relaxation in labor and birth. These skills will aid birth partners in supporting the birthing mother with ease and healthy body ergonomics. A labor preparation class full of fun and useful tips, where the partners, fathers and other birth companions get to practice and be pampered as well.
Bio:
I am a DONA trained Doula, Independent Placenta Medicine Specialist and a Childbirth Educator on my path to midwifery school. I am a certified massage therapist, trained somatic movement therapist, developmental movement therapist, certified in radical counseling and have been a dancer, dance teacher for the past 15 years. I bring all this knowledge of the body and emotional process, to support mothers and their families on their journey through the birth process and parenting.
In 2013 I attended Elizabeth Davis's Heart and Hands beginning midwifery intensive, which was my first step on the road towards midwifery. This course and the teaching of Elizabeth not only gifted me with deeper understanding and more comprehensive knowledge about birth, but has given me a doula certification as well. I am proud to hold this certification.
In 2014 I became a Certified Rebozo Instructor by Gena Kirby and I am exited to offer my new Embodied Birth and Fabric of Connection classes that integrates and synthesizes all the knowledge I have acquired in the last 15 years about how to be in the body, embody the mind, and trust the inner process.
Cost: $55/person or $100/couple (in advance) $65/person or $120/couple (at the door) $45 for doulas who bring a client with them.
*Rebozos will be available to use at the event, as well as available for purchase. Class Instructor: Ilka Fanni http://www.ilkafanni.com/
