Skin Tight
Every aspect of an actor can be pushed to the limit in creating the best performance. Understanding this process can be just as difficult. This project aims to unravel the reality of being an actor and highlight the labour of work required, against generally stereotypical judgements and the assumption that acting is both glamorous and easy. Through a screening of the rehearsal process, and a performance, audiences will be privy to the work actors commit to in creating their final performance. What is seen in a show isn't always an easy moment to produce. For this event, a forty-minute documentary will follow the entire rehearsal process and highlight the constant struggle and rigorous hours of work that rehearsals involve. The documentary also includes five interviews with working actors, depicting their life within the creative industry. Ranging from all backgrounds, these actors provide insight on what daily life is like trying to make a living doing what they love. Following this will be a performance of Gary Henderson's 'Skin Tight' by two of the documented actors; a play about an ordinary couple with an extraordinary love reliving their darkest secrets, deepest passions, and heart-breaking truths. This is their final opportunity to say all the things they never had a chance to before. Finishing with a short Q&A session, audiences will have the opportunity to ask both actors and the director questions raised by what they have seen.
Doors open at 6:45pm. At 7:00pm the documentary will begin followed immediately by the performance. This production is not suitable for audience members under the age of 16, due to scenes depicting sex and violence.
